As we reflect on the year gone by, it is filled with the kind of uncertainty and struggle that our generation has never witnessed before. Millions of healthcare professionals across the world battled the unprecedented effects of the pandemic. We witnessed the fight for hope - for a better tomorrow, for a happier tomorrow. We, at KEF Holdings, were inspired by this resilience displayed by mankind and are determined to not just cope with the situation but to come out of it stronger.

With our flagship hospital, Meitra in Calicut, Kerala, we are constantly striving to bring quality healthcare closer to the patient. To be collaborative and create a healthcare ecosystem of learning and support. To enhance possibilities for clinicians through technology adoption. But most importantly, we are determined to create an environment that would motivate the healthcare system to continually put patient-centricity above all else.

"It is the right time to leverage technological innovations to solve healthcare challenges, by giving the doctors more digital solutions in their armamentarium. Meitra Hospital has always prided itself in being at the forefront of healthcare innovations and have invested in technology and unique business models to enhance the healthcare ecosystem, scale its reach and create a truly enriching patient-centric experience," said Faizal E Kottikollon, Founder and Chairman, KEF Holdings and Meitra Hospital.

And this very thought led to the vision of creating a network of like-minded organisations that work together to improve the delivery of healthcare in their regions at no additional cost. The pilot project was accomplished last year, when Meitra Hospital collaborated with Health Ministry, to establish Kerala's first Tele-ICU at Beach Hospital, Kozhikode, enabling the hospital to operate at 90 per cent occupancy in its critical care unit.

The official launch took place on the auspicious occasion of Kerala Piravi in September 2020, in the presence of Health Minister K K Shailaja, Faizal E Kottkollon, along with other dignitaries.

The Government General Hospital, also known as Beach Hospital, became the first member of Meitra Hospital's mission to upgrade and equip healthcare with technology and bridge an acute shortage of intensivists in the country.

This is only the beginning for KEF holdings, as we are entering a new era of redefining healthcare in India, UAE and in several other parts of the world, by redesigning the care delivery model beyond the traditional hospital set-up.
