The Dubai-based Victory Team has come up with yet another swift transaction while roping in the services of Asian Games double medallist Ali Al Lanjawi.
Chairman of Victory Team Huraiz Bin Huraiz was at hand to unveil the dual jet-ski Asian Games champion along with other members of the board of directors at the Victory Team headquarters on Monday.
"For us, this is a coup as we seek to build up our watersport profile for the future," Bin Huraiz told media after the unveiling of Victory Team's latest driver in the F4 fold.
"We saw what Ali was capable of while competing for the UAE at last month's Asian Games in Jakarta. He's got a momentum going and I am sure he is destined for even greater triumphs in the world of F4 racing," he added.
The 37-year-old Al Lanjawi opened with a gold medal in the Runabout Limited category and then came back strongly on the third day while adding a silver in the Runabout Open Endurance Race as the UAE ended with their best-ever medal haul at an Asian Games with 14 medals including three gold, six silver and five bronze.
"I think this latest signing is a win-win situation for all concerned. The Victory Team gets a new driver and the sport benefits with new talent that will sustain it for the future," Bin Huraiz stated.
"For us at Victory Team, it is always about the future. These have been exciting times as we attempt a total restructuring and re-building of our watersports portfolio at Victory Team. I am confident that this latest signing will take the team back to glory days that we have been used to," he added.
Established in 1986, Victory Team have been true leaders in the world of watersport with nearly 600 awards and trophies starting with their inaugural Class 1 World Powerboat Championship crown in 1993. Since then, the Jebel Ali-headquartered outfit has taken on new challenges of boat building while dominating the sport like none other before.
Today, the Victory Team portfolio includes top-class racers in Class 1, XCAT, Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 4 and Aquabikes.
Around two seasons back, Al Lanjawi became one of the few sportsmen from the world of watersport to get a sponsorship deal from Yamaha products dealers Al Yousuf Motors LLC. Al Lanjawi had repaid the trust put in him by the sponsors by winning the inaugural Dubai International Marine Club-organised '2016 Dubai Wave Challenge'.
"The core of our philosophy is to nurture talent and help our racers to raise their profile as genuine competitors on the international stage. We have some fine examples of drivers in the past who have risen through the ranks to be among the best in the world of watersport," Bin Huraiz noted.
"Ali will join our very talented young team of riders and racers who have been the true ambassadors of Victory Team, Dubai and the UAE all over the world," he stressed.
