Football fans will be spoilt for choices during the holiday weekend as the tenth round of the Arabian Gulf League features many cracking contests to choose from.
The matches start on Thursday with two of the top three clubs on the AGL standings - Al Wahda and Al Wasl - in action.
The first match of the day has third-placed Al Wahda up against Ajman at the Rashid bin Saeed Stadium.
The Abu Dhabi 'Clarets' had thrashed Sharjah 3-0 in the ninth round match at home whereas a buoyant Ajman came from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Al Wasl. Both the teams are on a high and will be set for a top-class match.
Meanwhile, Al Wasl play Hatta at Hamdan bin Rashid Stadium. Hatta had blasted Al Dhafra 5-2 and will pose a problem or two for table toppers Al Wasl.
The late game will see Sharjah face defending champions Al Jazira at Khaled bin Mohamed Stadium.
The Abu Dhabi club are at sixth position and coach Henk Ten Cate said the encounter is difficult and complex as the team searches for points to go up the points table.
"Sharjah have developed significantly and its results have improved clearly after the arrival of the new coach. They are an organised team that play superbly. Their results are not fair in some matches," Ten Cate said about Sharjah's coach Abdul Aziz Al Anbari.
"We will play with full concentration as we need to win to improve our position in the points table," the coach said adding that victory will be a big morale booster ahead of the Fifa Club World Cup opener on December 6.
Day 2 matches will see Dibba travel to Emirates Club. Dibba had managed to hold Al Ain to a goalless draw whereas Emirates were hit hard by Al Jazira 3-1 in the previous outing. In another match, Dubai powerhouse Shabab Al Ahli will host Al Dhafra.
The tenth round ends with a bang as the last match sees Al Ain versus Al Nasr at the Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium.
Al Ain, Al Nasr and Shabab Al Ahli Dubai were all held to draws and each team will be eager to get back to winning ways.
Al Ain are second, Shabab Al Ahli fourth and Al Nasr fifth. The battle for supremacy is getting intense as footballing action enters the last month of the year.
