Top shuttlers from India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Nepal will be in fray at the 43rd ISC-APEX UAE Badminton Gold Championship in Abu Dhabi.
The month-long championship will start at the India Social and Cultural Centre from Thursday. The total cash prize is Dh70,000 and will see players fight it out in junior, senior and elite series categories.
Among the top names are BWF World Junior Championship gold winner Alfian Eko Prasetya, Indonesia's seasoned campaigner Agripina Prima Rahmanto Putra and the Malaysia duo of Goh Giap Chin and Iskandar Zulkarnain. There are host of young talents from India - Asia Junior Championship bronze winner Pratul Joshi, Hemanth Gowda, Srikrishna Sai Kumar and seven others.
The well-travelled pair from Nepal Dipesh Dhami and Prince Dahal, all of 15 years, who shone at Dubai Junior International Series will also vie for the spotlight. The championship is held under the patronage of the UAE Table Tennis and Badminton Association.
"Winners and runners-up of senior singles and doubles category get an opportunity to compete in the elite series," ISC president D Natarajan said.
More than 400 players are participating in various categories. The finals will be held on February 7.
