Simone Biles of the US clinched her third gold medal with another brilliant show, this time in the women's vault of the gymnastics programme in Rio, late night UAE time.
In second place was Maria Paseka of Russia while the bronze medal went to Giulia Steingruber (Switzerland) who edged out India's Dipa Karmakar (15.066).
It was a heart breaking day for Dipa who is the only Indian woman to qualify for an Olympics. Her entry into the final round too will be etched in Indian gymnastics history in a country where the discipline as a competitive or recreational sport is unheard of in schools and universities.
