Former world No.1 in doubles Sania Mirza's return from an injury lay-off was cut short after she and her partner Caroline Garcia went down in the round of 16 in the WTA Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Wednesday night.
Sania, who won at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2015 and the Australian Open in 2016, and Garcia lost to fifth seeds Czech-Chinese pair Barbora Krejcikova and Saisai Zheng 6-4, 6-2 in 62 minutes on Court 1 of the Dubai Duty Tennis Stadium.
Sania had won the doubles title in Dubai in 2013, partnering American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
