dubai - Nida Najeeb defeated Evana Bose 21-5, 21-17 in two straight sets to win the under-18 title at the 39th India Club UAE Open Badminton Tournament on Friday.
In the first semifinals played in the veteran mix doubles 45 and above, James Varghese and Vidya Manghnani trounced Santosh Keparambath and Dhanya Mathew 21-12, 21-15 while in the second semifinals, Alam Syah and Rosamay Asignor beat Siyad Mohammed and Meeta Bhandari 21-18, 22-20.
In the semifinals of the ladies doubles, Agna Anto and Amritha Duffield overcame a stiff challenge from Palwasha Bashir and Saima Waqas for a 24-22, 21-18 victory.
