As the world struggles to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic and everything at a standstill at the moment, LaLiga, the Spanish football league, are doing their bit to help during these tough times.
They say music is the best medicine and has a healing effect and in keeping with that, 20 footballers from the Spanish first division will come together along with 20 musicians to raise funds for charity.
"The LaLiga Global Charity Festival will see these artists perform from their respective homes this Saturday. They will be joined by 20 players who will be part of this unique cause," said Daniel Barriga Caballero, LaLiga delegate for the UAE.
The money raised from the Festival will be passed on to the Spanish government to buy medical supplies as the country grapples with the virus.
Spain has been one of the worst hit countries in Europe with close to 50,000 cases and around 3,500 deaths.
The 20 footballers and 20 music stars include Alejandro Sanz, David Bisbal, Aitana, Sebastián Yatra or Antonio Orozco.
The identity of the remaining music artists will gradually be revealed throughout the week via LaLiga's social media channels and by the artists and players on their own accounts.
The LaLiga, Banco Santander, Universal Music, sponsors, players and clubs joined forces to come up with this initiative.
This will be the first global charity festival that seeks to raise funds to acquire products necessary to combat the pandemic.
The festival will take place on Saturday from 6pm (CET) (9pm UAE time) for fans around the world.
The Festival will be broadcast simultaneously to all countries around the world. Fans can watch it through LaLiga channels and the LaLigaSportsTV platform. In addition, LaLiga will offer the signal to all its international broadcasters.
Donations can be made through the Santander Foundation, through various other channels will also be announced shortly.
The Festival is part of the 'LaLiga se juega en casa' (LaLiga's being played at home) campaign, which seeks to support fans throughout this period of quarantine, making it more bearable and raising awareness about the importance of staying at home to halt the spread of Covid-19.
Just last week, an online challenge titled #LaLigaSantanderChallenge, raised more than ?142,000 towards UNICEF's aid efforts.
