National Basketball Association (NBA) and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas on Sunday, officials in the Californian city confirmed.
TMZ.com first reported the news.
The City of Calabasas' official Twitter account confirmed the incident.
It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Kobe Bryant and four others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. The aircraft went down in a remote field off Las Virgenes around 10:00 this morning. Nobody on the ground was hurt. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.The Los Angeles Times' Richard Winton and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski were among the first to confirm the news. The NBA's website has also reported the news.
