Two-time League champions Al Jazira have made their first signing during the summer transfer window by landing Ghanian winger Ernest Asante.
The 29-year-old joins from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland and is said to have been handed a two-year contract.
Al Jazira revealed the signing on their official website on Wednesday.
"Al Jazira Football Company completed the signing of the the Ghanian winger Ernest Asante, and he will join the first football team of Al Jazira as soon as the preparations for the upcoming seasons starts," the club said in a statement on Wedneday.
Ayed Mabkhout Al Hajeri, the board member of Al Jazira Football Company and the CEO attended the signing ceremony.
Asante began his career with Feyenoord Academy, a Ghanian club founded by Dutch side Feyenoord.
He then moved to Belgian club Beveren. Asante then spent three seasons with Norwegian side Start, during which he made 109 appearances and scored 25 goals.
Asante moved to Stabaek before joining FC Nordsjaelland in 2016. He made 66 appearances and scored 21 goals and helped FC Nordsjaelland to finish third in the Danish league last season.
Asante becomes the first signing under new manager Dutchman Marcel Keizer, who replaced countryman Henk ten Cate.
"I've had time to learn on and off the pitch and people in the club have believed in me. I hope my work with FC Nordsjaelland will help me grow and help me in the future. I have always felt welcome at the club and the changing room has been fantastic. And I would like to thank all my teammates and coaches for their support. I hope the environment in my new club will be the same," Asante told Ghanian media.
Al Jazira have work to do this season after finishing seventh last term.
