Mobile library project inspected
Minister of Education, Dr Majid Al Nuami has inspected the mobile library project at the Shaikh Abdullah bin Isa Secondary Boy School.
The mobile unit is a bus containing various books and e-books to promote students to adopt reading from young age. The minister hailed the project and efforts of the teachers and students for setting up the project. The project aims to teach students to be creative.
The Education Ministry provided the bus last semester and the students under the supervision of their teachers designed the mobile library. The unit is equipped with various digital reading facilities.
Bahrain team eyes Ironman contest
Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has said that preparations for the Ironman Championship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, are in full swing. Shaikh Nasser hoped the team, under his captaincy, will boost Bahrain's reputation in the triathlon sport thanks to its past experience, unparalleled enthusiasm and high spirit to stand out in the competitions.
As part of his preparations for the race, and in a test trial of the official cycling track, Shaikh Nasser rode 45 kilometres in a training session to test his physical fitness.
He also attended, alongside Bahrain team members, a technical meeting by the organising committee and got informed about the three stages of the world event.
Shaikh Nasser also toured Ironman Expo, which is held on the sidelines of the world championship, and praised the ironman-related items on display which shed light on what is needed for this sport.
The organising committee of the championship has announced that participants got the needed equipment for the three stages on Saturday in preparation for the race which will kick off on Sunday in Port Elizabeth.
Health Minister honours Formula One medical team
Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al Saleh has honoured the medical team which took part in the 2016 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Addressing the ceremony, the minister extended congratulations on the success of the global sporting event, hailing the strenuous efforts of the government to ensure the outstanding organisation of the race which bolstered Bahrain's standing on the map of world sport.
Medical team chief Dr Amjad Obaid also addressed the ceremony highlighting the efforts of the medical team over the past five months ahead of the event. A documentary film detailing the role of the team was also shown.
Social responsibility conference concludes
Bahrain International Conference on Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development 2016 concluded its activities last week.
The conference was patronised by Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza and organised by Bahrain Society for Social Responsibility in cooperation with National Gas and Oil Authority.
Fourteen speakers from Bahrain, Gulf states and New Zealand addressed the conference and 14 papers were presented to reach three recommendations, including the establishment of a portfolio funded by the private sector and managed by an independent national commission to contribute to developing sustainable development projects.
