The Kerala stall features the state’s IT clusters, including the upcoming Technocity, the Kollam Technopark, Infopark-Cherthala, the Kinfra High-Tech Park, Technopark Phase III, and Cyberparks at Kozhikode and Kannur.
Over the past few years, Kerala’s IT sector has been recording a major growth with many blue-chip firms like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant and ACS making a stronger presence.
India’s Minister of Human Resources Development, Communications and IT Kapil Sibal visited the pavilion, accompanied by Indian Ambassador to the UAE M.K. Lokesh. Earlier, Indian Consul-General in the UAE Sanjay Verma formally inaugurated the pavilion.
The Kerala delegation is led by P.H. Kurian, Principal Secretary for IT of the Government of Kerala. Part of the delegation are Technopark CEO Girish Babu; Vijayakumar, Special Secretary to Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty; Vasudevan, senior business development manager of Technopark; and representatives of IT companies from Technopark and Infopark.
The theme of the Kerala pavilion this year is green, a colour symbolic of the state’s greenery and its emphasis on eco-friendly development strategy.
Babu said the Kerala delegation’s focus at this year’s Gitex is not only to lure SMEs into the technology sector but also to encourage co-developers to play an active role in developing IT infrastructure in various locations. “Kerala has a big potential yet to be tapped. We are looking at stronger public private partnership to spur the growth of the sector.”
The Kerala delegation is holding discussions with delegations and senior officials from governments and IT companies of the other countries.
