French multinational digital services provider Atos Societas Europaea has opened its new technology centre in Vadodara in central Gujarat as part of its long-term strategy for Indian market.
The European firm, which has 86,000-strong workforce in 66 countries, has already hired 300 IT professionals and will recruit 700 more in the next few months to manage the operations in the tier-2 city.
According to Peter Pluim, senior vice-president and COO, Global Operations — Atos Managed Services, Atos Group — the reason behind selecting Vadodara as the second establishment of Atos after Pune was the the good infrastructure, renowned education institutions, rich talent pool and good connectivity to Mumbai and Pune.
He said the company focussed on establishing India as one of the key global delivery centres for the Atos Group and its clients worldwide.
Atos provides consulting and systems integration services, managed services and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), cloud operations, big data and security solutions, as well as transactional services through Worldline, the European leader in the payments and transactional services industry.
The group works with clients across different business sectors: defence, financial services, health, manufacturing, media and utilities, public sector, retail, telecommunications and transportation. —
