The eighth seeded Dane saw her run in this week’s Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships ended by the Czech sixth seed in a 6-3, 6-4 reserve at the last-four phase. However, having come through earlier rounds against two top 20 players in Marion Bartoli and Lucie Safarova, along with Chinese qualifier Jie Zheng, the world number 10 is confident her play is in good shape prior to next week’s BMW Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur.
“I feel I’m playing a lot better than a year ago, so that’s a positive,” the former world number one, 22, said. “There’s still a long tear in front of us, so – hopefully – there are many matches to go. In general, it’s been a good week. I’ve played some good tennis. It’s improving all the time, which is great. I obviously would have liked to have won (against Kvitova), but it wasn’t to be. The good thing about tennis though is there is always next week.”
