Al Budoor carded a two-under-par gross score of 25 to win the Division A title by four shots from his nearest rival Obaid Khalid, while Skaik (gross 28) held his nerve to emerge victorious in Division B by one stroke over Khalil Kashwani, who finished runner-up on a countback.
Skaik’s cousin Ahmed, who shot a gross 31, also made it to the podium when he won the nearest to the pin prize on the challenging ninth hole. In all, 32 players competed in the concluding edition of the league, which was aimed at giving young Emiratis, who are relatively new to the game, a feel for competition.
Saeed Albudoor, the general manager of the EGF, said: “Once again, we had a good response to the event, thanks to the support from parents.
“The field comprised players from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, which shows golf is gaining in popularity among young Emiratis from all over the country. “Players like Ahmed and Mahmood have shown a marked improvement in their game.
Division A (12-16 years): 1. Ahmed Al Budoor (gross 25). 2. Obaid Khalid (gross 29). Division B (under-12): 1. Mahmood Skaik (gross 28). 2. Khalil Kashwani (gross 29 – countback). Nearest to the Pin (ninth hole): Ahmed Skaik.
