Anwar Khan became the second batsman to score a ton in the UAE Xchange U14 Abu Dhabi School League after the successive centuries from Tayyeb Ali of Al Yasmina in the ongoing tournament. Anwar thumped 134 to power Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School to a 151-run victory over newcomers Cranleigh in a Group A match at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council's Nursery Oval-1.
The wicketkeeper-batsman blasted 18 fours and four sixes to help his team post 237 for four. Cranleigh in reply could muster only 86 for six with only Jonah Gillam again being their top scorer with 38. Bright Riders eased to an eight-wicket win over Sunrise to register their third win and take a step closer to book their passage in the semi-finals in another Group A game.
Nikhil Menon, 11, and Sathish Soorya, 12, shone with the ball and bat resppectively in their victory.
Menon took four for 12 from four overs with his off-spinners to restrict Sunrise to 90 for eight. Sathish stroked a breezy 28 not out for his team to knock off the winning runs with 7.4 overs to spare.
Al Yasmina extended their winning streak three in Group B after a 74-run triumph over Model.
Tayyeb Ali, who scored back-to-back centuries, stroked a half century and shared a 98-run stand for the first wicket with Haysam Shakeel (55) to set the platform for Al Yasmina. Vishnu Menon and Aditya Titus took six wickets between them as The Cambridge High School clinched a four-wicket win over Bhavans in a low scoring Group B game.
