Sana Tufail, a member of the newly acclaimed Yas Links Golf Club, confirmed her status as the leading amateur golfer in the Middle East when she won her 10th successive EGF Order of Merit Event of the season over the weekend by winning the coveted Emirates Ladies Amateur Open in Dubai by an impressive 12 shots, a media report said.

Sana who celebrated her record breaking victory with a helicopter ride over Abu Dhabi, including surveying the Yas Links course from a 500 metre Birdseye view, modesty said: “I still have a lot to learn, there were many lost opportunities out there, many birdies chances were not converted, I will be under much more pressure when playing in top amateur events in Europe this summer, and those missed chances can make the difference of whether you are in contention or not; but for now I am focusing on my GCSE’s which are in 6 weeks time.”

It is the first time that ten consecutive titles have been won by an individual in any men’s or women’s nationally organized Order of Merit Title race in the Middle East.

Sana Tufail followed her first day score of a one under 72 gross on the Faldo Course at Emirates Golf Club with a superb second day score of 71 gross on the championship flagship Majlis course to clinch the last EGF Ladies Order of Merit event of the season with a resounding 2 under 143 for the two day event.

Sana was already 3 under by the fifth hole on day 1 when the forecasted sandstorm completely changed playing conditions which was on the verge of being suspended as the strong swirling winds made putting a “nightmare”, with the ball oscillating violently on the sloped greens of the Faldo course.

It was a testimony to the 15 year old prodigy’s skills.
