Being prepared is critical and key to mitigating any hazards

This is in response to the editorial, ‘Redeployment in Mideast’ (KT, February 16). The United States is once again in the phase of moving in its ground troops for action in the volatile region. Chasing out the Daesh is essential, and there is no second thought on it. But the question as rightly raised in the editorial is whether the American forces will stay put in Kuwait or march into Syria and Iraq and for that matter inside Saudi Arabia to flush out the activists and supporters of the militia?
The White House has to make its policy clear before it adventures in the region. If this time the US just stays on the borders than the Daesh and the like will be emboldened. They need to be crushed in hot pursuit.

• The action that Egypt has taken by hitting out at Deash hideouts is promising. The beheading of innocent people is a crime against humanity and the militants should be taken to task immediately.
It has been a while that no concrete effort was made by the West, especially Nato, to confront the lethal enemy in the Middle East as all its energies were diverted at Ukraine.
