I was one of the many in the audience at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday who had come to hear Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
The speech delivered was insipid and did not offer any solutions to the problems faced by India. He kept repeating himself over and while he touched upon the issue of unemployment, agrarian crisis, and rising intolerance, we know that only massive structural reforms can bring change. Reforms in labour, agriculture and Police force are the need of the hour. Although much was expected from the present Indian PM, Narendra Modi, his tenure is also ending with a damp squib despite the massive mandate given to him by the Indian voters. India requires a leader who can rise above party politics, and keep the interest of the nation and the people in mind while taking decisions and not a political demagogue.
