Pakistan's politics is entering an interesting phase as young leaders are taking centrestage. The news that Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has decided to take part in the next general elections of the country is good. She is yet to confirm it though. Maryam Nawaz, 44, is young, beautiful and has a dashing personality. She is active in politics since 1999 when her family went into exile. Recently, she campaigned for her mother Kulsoom Nawaz during the NA-120 by-poll seat for Lahore. And now she is gearing to contest the upcoming elections from the same constituency. The source from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz has also said that Maryam Nawaz may campaign for Provincial assembly from the PP-140 seat. Since Nawaz Sharif's ouster from the premier's post, Maryam Nawaz has become more active and aggressive in the party politics. She is accompanying her father and giving influential speeches in various parts of the country. It's unfortunate that she is facing corruption charges in the Panama papers.
Also, it is sad to note that Maryam Nawaz is facing criticism from the senior politicians for the lack of experience in politics. I'd say they should take care of their own. Every politician has to work hard. Imran Khan did. Today he has a powerful party and is giving a very tough time to the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz. In Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto is also learning politics. Accordingly, it is evident that Maryam Nawaz will get encouragement and support from her party members only. She is passionate and can be successful. - Jafar Ayub, Dubai
