Volkswagen cheated on its diesel cars and kept it under wraps for almost two years. The public and customers of the brand are being made to pay for higher emissions with their health and cash. This race to cut down carbon is not helping anyone because the system can be tampered with, just the way VW has done. Our reliance on software created by humans is not foolproof either. It can be programmed to cheat, and humans being humans, they will continue to try and beat the rules if they can get away with it.
