October is shaping up to be a busy month for music festival lovers as Abu Dhabi and Dubai prepare to host competing events, with a few major stars already confirmed to attend.
British producer Mark Ronson, the man responsible for one of the year's biggest hits, Uptown Funk, will be returning to the UAE on October 22 to headline the Green Grooves concert, set to take place at the new 10,000-capacity Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Ronson, who has produced Grammy-winning albums for artists including Amy Winehouse and Adele, last performed in Dubai in April. It's likely that the London DJ will showcase tracks from his chart-topping album, Uptown Special, alongside newer material when he steps behind the decks.
Joining him on stage will be fellow Brit, Timothy McKenzie, better known by his stage name Labrinth. The grime musician who scored his biggest hits through collaborations with Tinie Tempah on Pass Out and Emeli Sandé on Beneath Your Beautiful, will be performing in Abu Dhabi just weeks after the scheduled release of his sophomore album, Take Me to the Truth, which will reportedly include song-writing credits from Ed Sheeran.
Dubai will aim to keep the festival vibes going with the second edition of DXBeach at Zero Gravity, set to take place 24 hours later on October 23. While the artist line-up has yet to be announced, the festival's inaugural edition three months ago played host to Ronson as well as sultry vocalist Jess Glynne of Rather Be fame.
Advance tickets to Green Grooves cost Dhs200, from www.platinumlist.net. Regular tickets will cost Dhs320. Ticket details for DXBeach have yet to be announced, but you can follow updates on www.dxbeach.ae.
