Ek haseen nigah ka dil pe sayaa hai.. goes the popular track from 'Maya Memsaab' a 1993 starrer which even today creates soul-stirring experience for Hindi film music lovers. Dubai music lovers will be treated with the same experience by none other than the youngest of Mangeshkar Maestro- Hridaynath Mangeshkar, this evening, who is in town with this talented daughter Radha Mangeshkar. They are to perform at the concert titled 'Al Adil presents Hridaynath Mangeshkar- Bhaav Sargam', this evening.
The event will feature his popular Marathi compositions. His daughter Radha will also be accompanying him for the musical performance. The inaugural programme is the planned annual tribute event celebrating Indian melody queen Lata Mangeshkar's birthday (which falls on 28th September) to highlight her unparalleled artistic contribution.
The crown jewel of the Mangeshkar family- Lata Mangeshkar needs no introduction. Her magical voice has been part of India's socio-cultural fabric since last seven decades. For her peerless artistic stature, she has rightfully been conferred the highest Indian civilian honourr Bharat Ratna. Her younger sisters- Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and Meena Khadikar have also made their indelible mark in Indian music.
The youngest of the Mangeshkar sibling quintet Pandit Hridaynath is a genius composer and a fabulous singer, whose innumerable Marathi, Hindi and Bengali songs have mesmerized the audience world over. His popular film soundtracks such as Jait Re Jait, Jaanaki, Mashaal, Lekin and Maya Memsaab are familiar to most listeners. The connoisseurs are bowled over his masterly compositions in his non-film Bhaavgeet and albums such as Dnyaneshwari, Shiv Kalyan Raja, Koli-Geet, Ganesh-Geet, Meera Bhajan and Ghalib ghazals.
His live programmes- Bhaav Sargam (in Marathi) and Didi Aur Main (in Hindi) have been running successfully since last many years. His colorful narration of behind the scene anecdotes, insightful explanation of the lyrical and musical intricacies, followed by his inimitable rendition has given these programs a classy timeless feel.
In his Dubai concert, Pandit Hridaynath will also be inaugurating Lata Online (www.lataonline.com), a global web museum, a repository of rare articles, photographs, songs and videos archiving Lata Mangeshkar's timeless music. This web museum is pioneered by Dr. Mandar V. Bichu, a Sharjah-based writer-journalist, who has already penned two acclaimed books Gaaye Lata Gaaye Lata (in Marathi) and Lata-Voice of the golden era on the famous singer.
The event is organized by Dr Bichu and Dr Sunil Manjarekar in association with Gallop Events. Al Adil, Xpressmoney and Maitreya are the main sponsors of the event. - sandhya@khaleejtimes.com
