The day’s highlight will be the 1600m Al Basti Equiworld Handicap fifth race which has attracted full field of 14 runners rated 85-100 going to post.

Champion trainer Ali Rashid Al Raihe saddles Glen Nevis, Royston Ffrench up, to face the challenge of Commander Cave under William Supple and the mount of Patrick Cosgrave Saboteur.

Formerly trained by Jeremy Noseda in Britain on behalf of its owner Shaikh Zayed Almur Maktoum bin Jumaa Al Maktoum, the Gulch horse has made his mark in few races before he went for a long lay-off. And when he returned to the track, Glen Nevis failed to impress until most recently when he showed signs of returning to form after finishing a good second to Otaared in the 1600m Jebel Ali Mile Trial.

Al Raihe is expecting his horse to show the best of him saying that Glen Nevis is back to form and hopefully he will strike.

“Glen Nevis is showing good signs of improvement. I know he’s seven, but he’s still capable of doing well,” he said. In the meantime, Brazilian raider Energia Central returns to Meydan to make his fourth attempt of the season in a maiden contest over 1400 metres. But the job of the Dalakhani colt will not be easy at all. French trainer Stephane Cheavailer saddles Prime Preacher and Ali Rashid Al Raihe sends UAE debutant Seeking Glory which will make things somehow difficult for Energia Cenbtral unless he improves his last form.

Trainer Musabah Al Muhairi is double-handed in the second race, a 1400m Thoroughbreds Al basti Equiworld Handicap. Top weight Africanus will be ridden by apprentice jockey Antioco Murgia while the stables jockey Wayne Smith will jump on Fantastic Dubai and both horses look good to give the ex-police officer a 1-2 finish in the race.

Tadhg O’Shea has every chance to guide Indian Skipper to victory in the 1200m Handicap and Zafeen Speed could make it a double delight for the partnership of Al Muhairi-Smith in the fourth race.

KT Selections: 1. Seeking Glory 2. Fantastic Dubai 3. Indian Skipper 4. Zafeen Speed 5. Glen Nevis 6. Treachery

Day’s best: Indian Skipper
