Young, tech-savvy individuals with extensive knowledge of coding are using their expertise at Dubai Health Hack to find solutions to improve the existing facilities that support people of determination.
The hack is primarily focused on three themes, aiming to improve the lives of those with physical, mental and intellectual disabilities and using technology as a medium to bring a positive impact into the day-to-day lives of people of determination. The hack is in line with the Dubai Health Authority's (DHA) mission to transform Dubai into a leading healthcare destination by fostering innovative and integrated care models and through enhanced community engagement.
Ifthiquar Ahmed Jameel, IT specialist at the DHA, said: "The Dubai Health Hack aims to increase community engagement, enhance patient care models and find innovative ways to provide health solutions for today's challenges. It will utilise the talent and creativity of our youth to make meaningful changes in the healthcare landscape of the emirate and directly benefit the lives of people of determination."
Jameel said the teams worked round the clock for 30 hours and an esteemed panel of judges selected the top three teams. The teams have a month to further develop their ideas and the winners will be announced during the DHA's Innovation Week in February.
The first prize is Dh60,000; second is Dh30,000; and third prize is Dh10,000. The teams consisted of students, entrepreneurs, incubators, technologists, coders and IT specialists.
