The Follow-up Committee of the Initiatives of the UAE President has approved the setting up of a central hospital in Fujairah to provide better health services to citizens on the Eastern coast.
The move follows the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and follow-up by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to provide better services to the citizens.
Held under the chairmanship of Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Follow Up Committee meeting discussed a proposal to set up a hotel near the Shaikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital in Ras Al Khamiah to encourage medical tourism and provide accommodation for patients’ attendants. The committee approved tenders for road works worth Dh110 million in total.
The panel members thanked His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, for his full support to the committee to select an appropriate location for the proposed hospital.
Earlier, Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, instructed the competent authorities in the committee, the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Health to coordinate among themselves to assess the health services needed by the Eastern coast to upgrade the health services there.
Al Zaabi said the committee had been briefed in a meeting held at the ministry in Abu Dhabi about the proposal to set up the central hospital on the Eastern coast to provide better services to the citizens, adding that the move comes within the integrated vision of the UAE President to support the health tourism in the UAE.
The committee also endorsed the tender awarding at a cost of Dh95 million to renovate the Shaikh Zayed Road and link it with Al Zora road in Ajman.
It also approved the awarding of tender at a cost of Dh15 million to construct an internal road in Al Salama district of Umm Al Quwain.
The meeting was attended by Jaber Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Saeed Mohammed Al Muqbali, Rashid Al Ameri, Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi, Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, Engineer Mohammed Al Mouini, Hassan Al Mansouri, Mohammed Eisa Mohammed and Ali Al Dahmani.
