The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority issued an administrative closing decision for "Karaijat Cafeteria" in Al Ain's Al Motarad area.
The Cafeteria (license  holder CN-1145625) was closed for violating hygiene standards set by the authority, which in turn endangered the health of customers and residents.
Eng. Thamer Rashid Al Qasimi, ADAFSA spokesperson said that the establishment had been warned about their pest problem three times already before the decision was taken.
He added that in January, June and July, the eatery continued to ignore the violation warning, which resulted in its closure.
Al Qasimi further said that the cafeteria will remain closed until remedial measures are taken.
Commenting on the exact nature of the violation, the official explained that inspectors had repeatedly discovered insects in the food-preparation area.
The authority ensures that all food establishments abide by the food safety and hygiene guidelines.
The spokesperson urged residents to report similar violations on the toll-free Abu Dhabi government number 800555, and inspectors will take necessary measures.
