Daman has not fixed the new premiums for the health insurance certificates for visitors yet.
The certificates have to be submitted to the ADNRD to issue the new visit visas that are in effect from yesterday.
"The current rates of the health insurance to be paid to cover the visit visas would be implemented until Daman officials decide the new charges", said Mohammad Bakhit, Head of Services at the office of the Director General of ADNRD.
Daman's current rates - which cover one month - are Dh140 for people above age 51, Dh80 for ages between 16-50, and Dh60 for people less than 16-years-old. However, the health insurance premium for mission visa (for termporary work) is currently Dh420 for ages above 51, and Dh240 for people between 16-50.
The cabinet decision No 322 for the year 2008 obligates the sponsors to provide health insurance to all visitors who will enter the country for tourism, visiting relatives, study and temporary work.
The ADNRD did not process many applications which did not include health insurance certificate.
Khaleej Times has learnt that some insurance companies will fix Dh500 as a charge for one month visit and tourism. It will also fix Dh1,000 premium for three-month visit visa (short-stay).
