Need professional help with family issues? The Ministry of Community Development (MoCD) now provides consultation services via Instagram.
As part of the country's celebration of Innovation Month, the ministry has launched its 'Taaluf Live' service that is being offered for the first time through its official Instagram account (@mocduae).
Taaluf will have regular weekly episodes that aim to promote communication and direct interaction with the community. It becomes the fourth channel through which the MoCD provides family consultations, with the others being direct phone contact, e-mail and interviews with family counsellors at social development centres all over the UAE.
The pilot Taaluf Live episode on the 'Gram was recently aired with the theme 'Women in Different Balanced Roles: Employee, mother wife, sister', hosted by Dr Amal Al Otaibi.
Broadcast with the hashtag #Taaluf_Live, the session drew some 4,000 viewers who interacted with the expert, asking their questions and sharing their thoughts on the topic.
Hessa Tahlak, assistant undersecretary for social development at the MoCD, said the response they received for the first Taaluf episode proved the success of their new smart tool.
With the encouraging result, the session will also be broadcast through YouTube and as a podcast. Then it will be reposted on Instagram for those who aren't able to tune in.
"Taaluf Live family consultation services on the ministry's Instagram account focus on the values of interaction and dialogue and make consultations reach families and homes easier and faster. This is part of an effort to overcome societal challenges and promote family stability among the community," Tahlak said.
In the coming weeks, Taaluf Live will highlight different family and social topics to be presented by a number of counsellors and specialists, including Ismail Al Buraimi, Dr Al Otaibi, and Dr Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi.
Some issues that will be explored are family interference in married couples' lives; anxiety in married life; silence in married life; raising children as a shared responsibility; learning from life experiences of senior Emiratis.
The service is only one of many other new smart community initiatives that the MoCD will be launching across the country during the UAE Innovation Month.
