In line with the Ruler of Sharjah’s directive to improve public -service buildings to enhance people’s life, the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) is planning several infrastructure projects.
They include extending the traffic court building, constructing a cattle market, a slaughterhouse in Al Zubair area and car parks in Al Majaz and Al Qassimya areas.
The number of parks will increase with new ones coming up in Al Hawiya and Al Rafia’h areas, at Al Nouf 3, Al Nouf 4, Al Souh 4 and Al Souh 6. Al Qara’n 2 will have Al Falah park while the Sharjah ladies’ park at Al Jurainah, Al Nakhilat park as well as Towi Al Saman and Towi Mahafiz parks will be completed. There will be illumination at Al Saja Park, Al Bedia, and Um Faneen. In addition, new administrative buildings will come up at Al Shahba and Al Qadisiya parks. New drainage networks are in the pipeline and the Central Souq will have maintenance work carried out.
Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered that citizens be provided public conveniences.
Under the directive three markets are to be constructed: One for vegetables and fish, a second one for camels and cattle, and a third Friday Souq.
Shaikh Khaled bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Member of Sharjah Executive Council and DPW chairman, said these projects, to be implemented within deadlines, will enable Sharjah to cope with its rapid economic growth.
