Rahul Yadav, Achal Ghai, Gurinderjit Singh and Ghanshyam Mannghnani clinched the inaugural championship as Midnight Madness returned to Dubaigolf after almost a decade since the last event at the old Nad Al Sheba course.
The championship returned emphatically with 108 golfers contesting Midnight Madness supported by Midcom over the Faldo course at Emirates Golf Club.
A remarkable 27 teams teed off at Midnight on Thursday each playing 27 holes with the final putt sunk by somewhat weary competitors at 8am on Friday morning.
Following the opening 18 holes of better ball stableford (2 scores to count), there was a tie on 91 points, 19 under par. The quartet of Nitin Kripalani, Gaurav Verma, Sujit Namli, Arjun Manghnani and the team of Sameer Joshi, Bhupesh Sharma, Naresh Bhambaney, and Komal Sharma both led the field going in to the final 9-hole challenge. Three teams were all one shot adrift on 18-under par resulting in a competitive final 9-holes with stamina and determination in high demand.
For the final 9 holes each 4-ball was split into 2 pairs with one playing the front 9 and the other the back nine in a better ball stableford format. Rahul Yadav, Achal Ghai, Gurinderjit Singh and Ghanshyam Mannghnani clinched the inaugural championship with scores of 90 points, 23 and 23 for a 136 tally. A superb effort from the Emirates Golf Club members with both pairs securing 23 points over the 9-hole challenge on separate nine's.
Two points adrift and in second place was the team of Bipin Bhatia, Sushant Malik, Dilip Tripathi and IPS Singh who carded scores of 86, 23 and 25 for a 134 tally. Tobias Parkin, Max Burrow, Edoardo Galeppini and Edward Fearn finished one point further back in third with scores of 90, 21 and 22.
