Abdullah Mosa scored UAE’s goal in the 36th minute of the first half while the East Asians drew level ten minutes before the final whistle. Both teams fielded almost all players in their line-up.
The UAE, the Under-23 Gulf Cup champions, have been drawn with Hong Kong, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan in the group stages. The top two teams of the group will progress beyond the initial round.

In the second half, the UAE coach pulled out Mohammed Al Shehhi and sent in Omer nAbdul Rahman and Saeed Al Kathiri instead of Ahmed Khalil. Abdul Rahman was sent off in the dying minutes of the tough clash.
