Fabian Castillo drove home a rebound from the top of the goal box in the second minute of stoppage time to give FC Dallas their fourth straight victory, 2-1 over fellow division leader DC United in Major League Soccer on Saturday.
Tesho Akindele found space to the left of goal and fed a cross to Victor Ulloa inside the penalty area that he fired toward goal. Defender Taylor Kemp got a foot on the ball, but it bounced directly to Castillo for the winner.
Kellyn Acosta scored in the 73rd minute to give Dallas a 1-0 lead after increasing pressure in the United end following a scoreless first half. Four minutes later, Kemp fired a cross in front of Dallas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy toward Jairo Arrieta, but defender Matt Hedges redirected the shot past the keeper to even the match on an own goal.
Dallas tops the Western Conference with 35 points, one clear of Los Angeles in second place and two points ahead of Vancouver and Sporting Kansas City in third. DC United has a six-point cushion atop the Eastern Conference.
In other matches, New York beat Orlando City 2-0 to leap into second place in the East, last-place Colorado got its first victory in Seattle, and Kansas City won its club-record eighth straight home match, including all competitions.
In Orlando, Florida, Sacha Kljestan and Mike Grella scored to help the Red Bulls win for the fourth time in five games. New York now has 29 points, two clear of Toronto, Columbus and New England in the East.
Kljestan scored in the 21st minute, and Grella connected in stoppage time for his fifth goal of the season.
Ireland international Kevin Doyle, who joined Colorado in March, scored on a counterattack in the 84th minute to give the Rapids the 1-0 win.
Benny Feilhaber opened the scoring in the fourth minute and set up Dom Dwyer's goal in the 34th in Sporting Kansas City's 2-1 victory over Montreal.
Sporting moved into joint-third in the Western Conference with Vancouver, which drew 1-1 with Portland. - AP
