Following stabbing of an Omani student on December 6 in London's Harrods, the Omani Cultural Attaché in the UK has issued a warning to be cautious during this holiday season, Times of Oman reported.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Araimi, 20, was walking home from a restaurant in Knightsbridge, London, when masked muggers tried to rob his luxury watch, believed to be a Rolex. Al Araimi tried to fight back but was stabbed to death while his friend, a Bahraini national, suffered injuries, Daily Mail reported.
In the note, the Attaché warned Omani students and those on scholarships in London and European countries to avoid being out late at night and not to walk in the sub streets except within groups.
Informing them that the office will be closed from December 23, 2019, to January 3, 2020, the Cultural Attaché said: 'Please pay attention to your identification documents, your passport, residency cards, and bank cards and keep them at a safe place, whether you intend to travel or remain in the scholarship countries during the next vacation period'.
It added that if need arises, students can get in touch with the Cultural Attaché on Twitter, or call on emergency number - 07554884884, and also provided a WhatsApp number - 00447763536425.
