More than 39,000 students have taken part in the Adnoc Stem education programme gaining new skills in various disciplines.
As many as 39,388 students from 897 schools across the UAE have learnt new skills since the initiative was launched in 2017 and by 2030, plans are afoot to reach 200,000 students.
“As more trusted partners join us in our quest towards establishing a knowledge-based economy through the Stem programme, we are confident that we will continue to inspire energy for creativity, innovation and ingenuity for generations to come,” said Shaima Al Zarooni, adviser, corporate social responsibility, group communications and CSR, Adnoc.
The overwhelming response led to an extension of the programme from October till last month. More than 11,500 students were members on the Facebook page by the end of February.
Adnoc also launched a workshop for kids to learn how scientists use data at work, and held a session on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Also, an ‘Energy for Life’ competition for schools will be held annually with five winners receiving a fully-equipped VR studio for educational institutes.
With schools resuming normal classes, Adnoc on Sunday, unveiled a first-of-its-kind comprehensive Stem learning management portal for teachers, parents, and students. “This portal will allow students to register, access learning content, challenges and competitions.
Additionally, they will be able to track their progress, earn points and get certificates. This will help inspire and prepare students to pursue educational pathways that will prepare them for careers of the future. We want to prepare the youth of the nation to build the industries of the future that will help ensure our continued growth and prosperity,” Al Zarooni noted.
Teachers, parents and students can sign up to the learning portal www.adnocstem.ae.
