Two of Gems Education's primary schools in Dubai will merge in September, creating one large campus.
The private school operator will shift its students from Wellington Primary in Al Bada’a near Jumeirah 1 to Wellington Academy Al Khail.
This will create one of the largest British-curriculum schools in Dubai that’ll have a capacity of around 2,500 pupils.
A Gems Education spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Gems Education will unite Gems Wellington Primary School with Gems Wellington Academy – Al Khail at the end of the current academic year, with the combined school operating from the latter’s campus.
"This move is in response to parental feedback indicating an overwhelming desire for Gems Wellington Primary School to extend its education through to senior-age children.”
The statement added: “The unification will enable students to make a continuous journey through primary and secondary education.
"It will also enable us to considerably expand the activities available to the children in our care both during the normal school day and in terms of extra-curricular options and opportunities.”
Meanwhile, the same has been communicated in a Q&A on the Gems Wellington Primary School Website.
Wellington Academy is rated “very good” in KHDA inspections.
Last year, the country’s largest private-school operator closed Heritage Indian School, citing the “extremely difficult” impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and put plans for another school, Founders Al Waha, on hold.
Before the pandemic struck, Gems merged a few of its schools, including Nations Academy and American Academy in 2017 and two Indian schools in Sharjah, in 2019.
