Khaleej Times had earlier reported the plight of parents who were unable to find alternative schools as the school owner had allegedly absconded. Some parents had already paid full fees for the new academic year leaving them in a difficult situation for the new academic year.
The school now operates under Dubai Education LLC, which also manages the Canadian University of Dubai (CUD). Kamal Fodil, the school’s new principal, welcomed the students at the villa facility in Jumeirah. “Majority of the students returned to school today, which is excellent considering that this is the first day of operation.
Our primary concern is ensuring that students return to their normal routine with all the resources and support necessary to move forward with their education. As we move forward, we will communicate further details,” he said.
In an email statement sent to parents, Dubai Education agreed to assume control of the school’s operations and reopen it.
The statement read, “The school will be open and operating as normal as of this Sunday, September 9. We will ensure your children return to their normal routine, their friends and their education without any disturbance.”
Parents of children studying at St Andrews School breathed a sigh of relief as they saw the new principal welcome students.
The principal added, “The first day was fantastic. All things considered, the students were extremely happy to return to their school and see their teachers and friends. Feedback from the parents was very positive, they were very grateful to us and have offered their full support moving forward.”
Teachers had also returned to classes for a fresh start to give the school a new lease of life.
“The passion and dedication of these staff members is absolutely amazing and the relationships these staff have with the students is one of the big reasons why we are so glad that the school was able to open today,” said Kamal, who is also the vice-president of Student Affairs at the CUD.
