A curriculum-based study app was launched on Thursday to enhance learning process for high school students.
Robomate+ app, launched by India-based education services provider MT Educator, provides CBSE and ICSE students with audio-visual content to simplify academic material and increase classroom participation.
PowerPoint presentations and animations are recorded in a classroom environment with a teacher in the frame. Short quizzes are presented after lectures to allow students to assess their own performance.
The app will also serve IGCSE and IB students by next month.
Dr Chhaya Shastri, director of MT Educare, said the system aims to help the student community through the self-assessment app and provide a technology platform for institutions to add their own curricula and online graded tests, to digitise books, create a collaborative network and measure their students' performances.
"Students forget what they are taught by the time the exam approaches. Teachers turn their back to students as they teach on the blackboards. Having an interactive audio-visual platform challenges traditional ways of learning and helps them redeem the material," said Shastri.
She added that the new learning system aims to "enable students, empower teachers and increase parents' satisfaction".
The learning tool will facilitate students' self-study, allow them to engage in collaborative student groups and be mentored by well-trained teachers, said Shastri.
The new learning system serves students from grades 9 to 12, and provides test preparations for entrance examinations in engineering, medicine, management (MBA) and chartered accountancy.
Robomate+, available on iOS and Android, will have different charges depending on the curriculum. It starts at Dh500 per year for CBSE students and Dh640 for ICSE students.
Shastri stated early adopters can try the app for free through summer coaching at Excelencia Institute's four branches in Burjuman, Al Nahda, JLT and Oud Metha next to Lamcy Plaza during July and August.
Shastri noted that Robomate+ was introduced in India last March and has since achieved around 800,000 downloads on Google Play Store. Its platforms have been used by over 300,000 students in different institutions.
