A growing number of companies in the private sector are working together with schools to provide students with internship opportunities.
The increased efforts are to ensure high school students are equipped with industry knowledge and experience to help decide on a career path before they head off to university.
They learnt the trade Greenfield community school students Elias, Ahmad, Sid, Faizan and Abdelrahim worked as a marketing team at Brands International and developed a social media platform for the business. All students now plan to study business at various universities. Another student Khalid aims to be a pilot with Emirates and spent his internship at SkyDive Dubai under the supervision of experienced pilots taking sky divers up before their jumps. He is now pursuing his pilot licence. Valentina and Ayah worked as interior designers at Ashtaar Interiors in the Dubai Investments Park. With them is Alina Bushinskya, who was a graduate of the IB Career-related programme at Greenfield school and is now working for the company after completing her degree in business administration at Emirates Aviation University. Hannah worked at 'Hot & Cold' Photographic studio, Al Quoz, and developed key skills with equipment, set up and lighting. Gehna worked in the brand marketing department at Weber Shandwick in JLT. She is now studying a degree in business at Middlesex University, Dubai campus. Max worked at the Hilton Hotel, Jumeirah, spending time in many different departments. His favourite was the marketing department, where he worked to develop promotional material for the hotel. Max is now studying business at university in South Korea. |
