A Ugandan guard working for a private company informed the police on April 10 that he saw the 28-year-old woman come running from the building, a police source said. When he asked her what had happened, she told him she had stabbed a man, also Ugandan, who was living in a flat on the third floor of the building in Freej Al Murrar.
The guard accompanied the woman to the Naif police station to report the incident.
Criminal Investigation Department officer of the police station rushed to the flat, where they saw traces of blood and found the 26-year-old victim. He was lying in a pool of blood having been stabbed with a knife on the left side of his chest.
During police interrogation, the woman said on Tuesday, she was lying in bed wearing light clothes when the victim, referred to as A.A, came to her flat.
He lay next to her on the bed and asked to have sex with her, but she refused.
The man then allegedly held the woman by the neck and tried to rape her. She pushed him and he fell near a chair. She then ran to the kitchen and found a knife to protect herself, before telling the man not to touch her.
He didn’t listen and tried to touch her again, at which point she stabbed him in the chest.
The woman told the police that she then left the flat and went to a woman friend in the same building. She left the knife at her friend’s flat before going out where she met the security guard.
The woman guided the police to her friend’s flat where she had hidden the knife under a chair.
The woman was referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution.
