An Indian woman fell to her death from the 18th floor of Liwa Tower in the capital’s Al Falah Street at around 1pm on Tuesday.
“I was walking nearby when I heard a big thud. It was really a loud sound, and when I turned around I saw a woman lying on the roof of a car in a pool of blood,” said an eyewitness. He further added that the roof of the car was badly damaged due to the impact of the woman’s fall.
The police, who reached the site soon after the incident happened, dispersed the big crowd and cordoned off the entire area.
A strong team of traffic police, investigating officers, ambulances and Civil Defence personnel were present until the body was removed and the area cleared after an on-the-spot investigation.
Another resident from a nearby building said he had to wait for more than one-and-a-half hour to get to his apartment. “The entire area was closed and no one was allowed to even get to their homes until everything was cleared and the cordon removed,” he explained.
The Abu Dhabi Police have collected all the evidences from the accident site and have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the woman’s fall.
When asked for a comment, the Abu Dhabi Police said a report will be released soon after the investigation is completed.
