Two young Asian men were kidnapped, assaulted by cricket bats, robbed and dumped in the desert near Al Sajja industrial area. Both have sustained critical injuries and are fighting for their lives in Al Qassimi Hospital.
Police said that they received a call from a driver of a public transport vehicle at 2am who reported having spotted the two injured men - aged around 25 - lying unconscious in the desert.
The police rushed to the site and found blood marks on their bodies. They shifted the two to a hospital. After the men regained senses, they told the police that they were walking in the industrial area when some Asians stopped and asked them to get into a car. When the duo refused, three men beat them up with cricket bats until they fainted and then dumped them in the desert after robbing them of their cash and belongings, including mobile phones.
An official at Al Qassimi Hospital said that medical reports revealed that they suffered multiple fractures in the legs and bruises in different parts of the body as well as bleeding in the stomach and liver. The injured men will have to undergo surgery, he pointed out.
