Three men have been accused of posting confidential information about their company contracts on social media, a court in Abu Dhabi was told.
The posts on Twitter had allegedly received many insulting reactions against the company from the public. The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance heard that the Arab men, who had accessed the company's secret information including documents for contracts and tenders that were awarded to local firms, illegally posted them on Twitter.
The company had filed a complaint against the three employees after confidential information started spreading on social media.
The company told authorities that as a result, they received a lot of negative reactions and insulting messages against the management, which undermined the company's reputation.
Two of the men, who had access to the documents on the award of tenders, had allegedly disclosed the information to their colleague who later posted the information on social media.
The accused who posted the information was charged with defamation and violating online laws and his two colleagues were accused of providing him with the confidential information. The men denied the charges when they appeared in court.
The trial was adjourned until September 30.
