The Sharjah Police have busted a gang comprising four Afghanis and one Pakistani who specialised in thefts in shops. The four Afghani suspects had returned illegally after they were deported as per court orders.
The Sharjah Police, on receiving several complaints of thefts in shops, formed a team to look for the perpetrators. Investigations showed that an Afghani, who lived in Ajman, had a link with the gang. In cooperation with the Ajman Police, the Sharjah Police raided his home and referred him to police custody.
During interrogation he confessed that the gang had committed the theft. The police located the other four suspects and they confessed to their involvement in the crime and said they have sent the money earned from theft to their homelands.
Based on their confessions they were referred to the Sharjah public prosecution.
The Sharjah Police pointed to the seriousness of infiltration and illegal residence which often leads to such crimes. They called on shops owners to take preventive measures to protect their shops and to use surveillance cameras.
