Sharjah – The Sharjah Police are currently working on installing large number of surveillance cameras in industrial areas to ensure safety and security and prevent crimes.
The police have completed 75 per cent of installation in vital commercial and residential streets in Sharjah.
Col. Abullah Ibrahim bin Nassar, Director of Strategy and Performance Development at Sharjah Police, said the newly installed cameras are well advanced, as they can analyse more than 80 scenarios and immediately send warning signal to the Operations Room about any suspicious movements.
He explained that the satisfaction level among the residents on safety and peaceful living increased to 92.3 per cent in 2014 against 90 per cent in 2013. The number of crimes has been declined to 90.6 to every 100,000 residents of the emirate last year compared to 119.8 for 100.000 in previous year.
The police have installed the e-gates at Sharjah airport to minimise work volume for employees and save travellers’ time, he added.
Col. Abullah Ibrahim bin Nassar said that Sharjah Police have cancelled the blood test for drivers applying for licence and extended the working hours for car registration until 8pm instead of5pm.
The Sharjah Police will soon install 16 e-gates at the Sharjah airport and residents can register for the services in Mega Mall and other commercial centres.
The number of fatal accidents in the UAE has been reduced to 6.3 death cases among 100,000 residents in 2014 compared to 10.2 deaths in previous year. –afkarali@khaleejtimes
