A man has been accused of the premeditated murder of his girlfriend in Abu Dhabi.
He is also facing charges of having illicit sex and attempted suicide, as per a report in Emarat Al Youm.
Details of the murder go back to September 2015.
According to the defence lawyer, he was provoked because his girlfriend of two years was carrying on a relationship with another man.
She would openly flirt with her lover, which spurred the suspect's jealousy.
After killing her, he was so depressed he tried to commit suicide by throwing himself into the sea.
The kin of the victim gave up their right to retribution and settled for blood money.
The court will convene on October 30 to pronounce its verdict.
