A Filipino resident, 33, on trial on a molestation charge after he allegedly surprised a female colleague with a kiss, has been cleared by the Dubai Court of First Instance.
The complainant, a 24-year-old Filipina employee, said the defendant was just her supervisor at work. "At 1pm on December 31, 2017, we were together heading to the Metro station in Al Rashidiyah to meet a client.
"I left him to see the client and after the meeting, I rejoined my supervisor at the same Metro station. He then told me he had a gift for me. He wanted me to close my eyes for the surprise. I found he had a hair clip for me and I thanked him for it. He then decided he had another gift for me and when I opened my eyes I was surprised by him suddenly kissing me," she testified.
She said she was shocked by his behaviour and left the place after pushing him away and slapping him on his shoulder. Even though he followed her to tell her he was sorry and that he liked her, she went right away to Al Rashidiyah police station where she complained against him.
The accused admitted to the charge during interrogation.
The public prosecution referred him to court with a recommendation that the strictest penalty possible as per the law be inflicted on him.
