Five men, all Asians, have appeared in the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court on charges of smashing the windshield of a parked car and stealing an earphone and a charger therein.
As per court records, the case unfolded when the owner of the car was shocked to find the windscreen of his car totally smashed.
He first thought it might have cracked on its own or some kid might have thrown a stone at it, but later discovered that the earphone and charger of his smartphone were missing.
The man informed the Fujairah Police who immediately launched intensive investigations and managed to track down the five robbers and arrest them.
The five suspects were referred to the Fujairah Public Prosecution and then to the Misdemeanours Court where the first defendant denied the charges.
"I was only walking with my friends and took no part in the robbery," he told the court.
The second suspect, however, admitted to the crime.
"I noticed the earphone and charger in the parked car and decided to rob them with the help of my four friends (suspects)."
He added that they could not help smashing the windscreen of the car to get the earphone and charger in.
"We also hoped to find some cash or valuable items as well, but found nothing else."
The robbers took the earphone and charger and escaped the scene, but were shortly detained by the CID men of the Fujairah police.
The court ordered adjournment of the case to next week to hear the other robbers, defence lawyer, and prosecution witnesses.
