Four Asians are facing trial at the Sharjah Criminal Court for allegedly hitting a 43-year-old man to death with an iron rod while being under the influence of alcohol.
The Sharjah Public Prosecution charged them with assault and murder. During interrogation, the four Asians confessed that they were drunk when they assaulted the victim without any provocation or motive. They beat up the man and hit his head with an iron rod, which caused him severe injuries leading to his death. The first accused said that he had dealt a strong blow on the victim's head with the iron rod and also hit him in his legs.
The fourth accused said that he did have a knife in his car, but he didn't assault the man with it.
The second and third accused denied their involvement in the murder and said that they just happened to be at the crime scene.
The case was referred to the criminal court, which adjourned the hearing to another date.
Police records showed that they received a call about the incident at the operations room, which dispatched teams to the site in one of the industrial areas in Sharjah. The team comprising officers from forensic, patrol, crime scene and CID rushed to the place and found the man had already died.
The victim was shifted to forensic laboratory for autopsy and a manhunt for the suspects launched. Following intensified search and investigation, the police arrested the four of the same nationality.
