The man was seeking the compensation in the Abu Dhabi Civil Court for damages he personally incurred from verbal and physical abuse by his son, who was addicted to sedatives.
The court records showed that the claimant initiated a lawsuit claiming that the two hospitals treated his son with dispensed substances even though the treatment was not necessary. He said that the treatment had mentally affected his son.
The son was reportedly getting medication from two hospitals at the same time, in order to double the quantity he could receive.
The son was convicted in a case of drug abuse, but the doctors did not respond to the father’s plea and continued dispensing him the mind-altering substances.
As a result, the father filed a lawsuit against the hospitals and the bodies concerned. It is understood that punitive actions were taken against the doctors in the backdrop of the complaint.
The man said his son began physically and verbally abusing him and other family members as a result of the addiction, estimating the total damages incurred by him at Dh10 million.
The two alleged private hospitals argued that they had not dispensed any medicine or treatment which did not match the son’s health condition, with both claiming that they were unaware that he was getting medication from the other hospital. news@khaleejtimes.com
